Erving Goffman ve çerçeve analizi

Abstract

Erving Goffman, Türkçe literaturde benliğin sunumu üzerine ortaya koyduğu yaklaşım ile tanınan bir sosyal bilimcidir. Ancak Goffman‟ın sosyolojiye katkısı bununla sınırlı değildir. Gündelik hayatta etkileşimler konusunu birçok çalışmasında ayrıntılı şekilde ele almıştır. Türkçe literatürde sembolik etkileşimcilerle anılan Goffman‟ın Stratejik Etkileşim ve Çerçeve Analizi çalışmalarında bu yaklaşım kendisi tarafından reddedilmektedir. Çerçeve Analizi (1974), Goffman‟ın henüz Türkçe literatürde kullanımı sınırlı olan yaklaşımını ortaya koyduğu eserdir. Bu çalışmada, Çerçeve Analizi merkeze alınıp çerçeve analizinin ana amacı ve temel kavramları tanıtılacaktır. Çalışamada Erving Goffman‟ın temel eserleri kronolojik olarak incelenmektedir. Bu incelemeden hareketle Türkçe‟de bulunan ve bulunmayan kitap ölçeğindeki çalışmalar tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışma, Türkçe‟ye çevirisi olmayan eserlerinden olan Frame Analysis adlı eseri odağa alan deskriptif bir araştırmadır. Goffman‟ın gündelik hayatı anlamlandırmada sorduğu temel soru olan “burada ne oluyor” sorusuna aradığı cevabın izleri takip edilmektedir. Çalışmada Goffman‟ın çerçeve, çerçeveleme, şerit, kipleştirme, fabrication (aldatmaca/uydurma) kavramları incelenmiştir. Mikro sosyolojinin önemli isimlerinden biri olan Goffman‟ın sosyoloji literatürüne önemli katkılarından biri olan çerçeve analizi ve temel kavramları değerlendirilmiştir. Erving Goffman, Türkçe literatürde ortaya koyduğu kavramlarla tanınan bir sosyologtur; bu çalışma aracılığıyla yönteme dair katkısının da altı çizilmiş olmaktadır

Erving Goffman is a social scientist known for his approach to the presentation of self in Turkish literature. However, Goffman's contribution to sociology is not limited to this. He dealt with the subject of interactions in daily life in detail in many of his works. Goffman, who is referred to as symbolic interactionists in Turkish literature, rejects this approach by himself in his Strategic Interaction and Framework Analysis studies. Frame Analysis (1974) is the work in which Goffman presents his approach, which is still limited in Turkish literature. In this study, the main purpose and basic concepts of frame analysis will be introduced by focusing on Frame Analysis. In the study, Erving Goffman's books are examined chronologically. Based on this review, studies that are or are not found in the Turkish literature have been identified. This study is a descriptive research focusing on Frame Analysis, one of his works that has not been translated into Turkish. The traces of the answer Goffman sought to the question “what is going on here”, which is the basic question he asks in making sense of everyday life, are followed. In the study, Goffman's concepts of frame, framing, strip, keying, fabrication were examined. One of the important contributions of Goffman, one of the important names of micro sociology, to the sociology literature, frame analysis and its basic concepts have been evaluated. Erving Goffman is a sociologist known for his concepts in Turkish literature; Through this study, his contribution to the method is also underlined.
