İlköğretim 1. Kademe Fen Bilgisi Deneylerinin Yapılma Düzeyleri: Afyon İli Örneği

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, İlköğretim birinci kademede görev yapan 4 ve 5. sınıf öğretmenlerinin Fen Bilgisi Dersi ünitelerinde yer elan deney ve etkinliklerini yapma ve amaçlarına ulaşma düzeylerine ilişkin görüşlerini tespit etmektir. 4 ve 5. sınıf Fen Bilgisi derslerindeki deney ve etkinlikler incelenerek, deneylerin yapılıp-yapılmadığı, amacına ulaşılıp ulaşılmadığını kontrol etmek amacıyla hazırlanan sorulara verilen cevaplar, frekans ve yüzdeliklerine göre analiz edilmiştir. Ankete katılan 4. sınıf öğretmenleri fen bilgisi ünitelerinde yer alan 47 deney ve etkinliklerin yapılma düzeyi ile ilgili olarak, en fazla yapılan deney sayısının 34 (%50 ve üzeri), %50 ve altında olanların sayısını ise 13 olarak belirtmişlerdir. Araştırmaya katılan 5. sınıf öğretmenleri 61 deneyden %50’nin üzerinde yapılan deney sayısı 50 iken %50 ve altında yapılan deney sayısı ise 11 olmuş fakat %25’nin altında yapılmayan deney olmadığı görülmüştür. Yapılan araştırmanın sonucunda; 4. sınıf öğretmenlerinin fen bilgisi deney ve etkinlikleri yapma düzeyinin 5. Sınıf öğretmenlerine göre düşük olduğu görülmüştür. Düşük düzeyde yapma nedenlerini şu şekilde belirtmişlerdir: deney araç gereçlerinin eksik olması, zamanın yetersiz olması, öğretmenlerin kendilerini yeterli bulmamaları, deney düzeneğinin hazır olması, mevsimin uygun olmaması, deneyin gerekli görülmemesi, deneyle ilgili araç-gereçlerden bazılarının dış çevreden getirilmesi gereği, deneyde yer alan canlılardan öğretmenlerin tiksinmesi ve konuların soyut bulunmasıdır, atom modeli gibi.

The purpose of this study was to explore the degree of achievement of primary school 4th and 5th grade science experiments and activities based on the units of science courses. According to percentages and frequencies, 4th and 5th grade science experiments and activities were analyzed with the answers of elementary teachers to the questions whether they were done or not and whether the purposes of those experiments and activities were achieved or not. 4 th grade elementary teachers acknowledged that the number of the most achieved 4th grade science experiments and activities was 34 (above fifty percent rate) and the number of the least achieved 4th grade science experiments and activities was 13 (below 50 percent rate) within 47 science experiments and activities. 5 th grade elementary teachers stated that the number of the most achieved 5th grade science experiments and activities was 50 (above fifty percent rate) and the number of the least achieved 5 th grade science experiments and activities was 11 (below 50 percent rate ) within 61 science experiments and activities. In the result, the extend of achievement of 4th grade science experiments and activities less than that of 5th grade science experiments and activities. The 4th and 5th grade elementary teachers explained reasons of this result, such as; the lack of science experiment tools, of time, unpreparedness of teachers, the wrong seasonal time of experiments, the unnecessary experiments for students, the supplying some of tools from outside, the dislike of some living organisms by teachers and some experiments covering abstract subjects like atomic model.
