İlköğretim 6. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi Nüfus ve Yerleşme Konusunda Geçen Kavramları Anlama Düzeyleri ve Kavram Yanılgıları

Abstract

Bazı önemli coğrafya ve tarih kavramlarının temelleri ilköğretim sosyal bilgiler dersinde atıldığı için, bu seviyede öğrenciye verilebilecek her türlü yanlış ve hatalı bilgi, öğrencide bu kavramlarla ilgili yanılgılar oluşmasına neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilköğretim sosyal bilgiler dersindeki “nüfus ve yerleşme” konusunda, 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin anlama düzeylerini belirleyip sahip oldukları kavram yanılgılarını tanımlamak ve ortaya çıkarmaktır. Bu çalışma 2006 yılının bahar döneminde, biri köy, üçü merkez okul olmak üzere toplam dört ilköğretim okulundaki 191 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın hipotezleri t-testi ve varyans analizi kullanılarak test edilmiştir. Verilerin analiz edilmesiyle, öğrencilerin nüfus ve yerleşme konularıyla ilgili kavram yanılgılarına sahip oldukları tespit edilmiştir. İstatistikler sonucunda; veli eğitim durumlarına göre lise ve üstü okul mezunu olan velilerin çocuğu ile ilkokul mezunu olan velilerin çocuğunun başarıları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark ortaya çıkmıştır. Ayrıca farklı eğitim bölgelerindeki okullara göre öğrencilerin başarı yüzdeleri arasında da yine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir şekilde fark ortaya çıkmıştır.

As the foundation of some of the important geography and history concepts are laid out in the social study lectures in primary school, any wrong and faulty information that can be given to the student at this level causes the student to form errors about these concepts. The aim of this study is to define and reveal the misconceptions that students at the sixth grade in primary school have in the subject of “population and settlement” in social studies lecture. This study was made in the spring session of 2006 with 191 students at the sixth grade in four primary schools one of which is in a village and three of them are in the city centre. With analyzing the datum, it was determined that students have misconceptions about the subjects “population and settlement”. Moreover, according to the educational status of the parents of students and the schools from different regions of education, an important difference came out among the percentage of the success of students in the test about the subject “population and settlement”.
