Philip Glass’ın keman piyano sonatı’nın form ve armonik analizi

Abstract

1960’lı yıllarda ortaya çıkan minimal müzik akımı, uzak doğu kültüründen, geleneksel Hint müziğinin ve rock müziğinin meditatif özelliklerinden etkilenerek, yeniyi arayan insanların kendilerini ifade ediş biçimi olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Minimal müzikte amaç, müzikal gereçleri en aza indirgeyerek, tekrarlardan oluşan sade ve anlamlı bir müzik yaratmaktır. Minimal müzik akımına öncü olan bestecilerden Philip Glass’ın Keman Piyano Sonatı’nın form ve armonik analizi bu araştırmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. İlgili literatür tarandığında, Glass’ın opera ve senfonik eserlerinin incelendiği çalışmalara rastlanmıştır. Ancak Philip Glass’ın Keman Piyano Sonatı’nın incelendiği bir çalışma bulunmamıştır. Bu durum araştırmanın problem durumunu oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın, keman ve piyano eğitimcileri ile öğrencileri için form ve armonik bilgi kaynağı sağlaması açısından önemli olduğu düşünülmektedir. Buradan hareketle, bu araştırmanın amacı, Philip Glass’ın Keman Piyano Sonatı’nın form ve armonik analizini yaparak literatüre katkı sağlamaktır. Nitel bir çalışma olan bu araştırmada betimsel araştırma yöntem ve teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Philip Glass’ın Keman Piyano Sonatı’nın analizine ilişkin izlenilen yöntemin uygun olup/olmadığının tespiti için uzman görüşü alınmıştır. Doküman inceleme yoluyla literatür taranmış ve Philip Glass’ın Keman Piyano Sonatı incelenmiştir.

The minimal music flow that emerged in the 1960s was influenced by the meditative features of the Far East culture, traditional Indian music and rock music, as well as the expression of the people who are looking for a new one. The aim of minimal music is to create a simple and meaningful music consisting of repetitions by minimizing musical equipment. The form and harmonic analysis of the Sonata for Violin and Piano of Philip Glass, one of the composers leading the minimal musical flow, is the subject of this research. As a result of the review the literature, research of the opera and symphonic works of Glass were found. However, the absence of a research analysing the Sonata for Violin and Piano of Philip Glass, constitutes the problem of this research. This research is thought to be important in terms of providing form and harmonic information for violin and piano educators and students. From this point of view, the purpose of this research is to contribute to the literature by analyzing the form and harmonic aspects of Sonata for Violin and Piano of Philip Glass. In this qualitative study, descriptive research methods and techniques were used. Philip Glass's Violin Piano Sonata was analyzed and expert opinion was obtained to determine whether the method that used were appropriate or not. The literature was reviewed through document review; Philip Glass’s Sonata for Violin and Piano was analyzed.
