Nilüfer Göle’de modernleşme ve dönüşen mahremiyet

Abstract

Modernite Avrupa’da ortaya çıkmış ve tüm dünyayı etkisi altına almış bir süreçtir. Toplumsal sorunlara bir çözüm olarak görülen modernite Türk toplumunda da etkisi göstermiş bir düşünce biçimidir. Fakat Türkiye’de ortaya çıkan modernleşme hareketleri Batı modernitesi ile aynı doğrultuda ilerlememiştir. Çünkü Türk toplumu Batı modernitesi değerleri ile kendi değerlerini harmanlama noktasında sınırlı kalmış ve sadece Batı modernitesini olduğu gibi alarak yanlış bir yola sürüklenmiştir. Nilüfer Göle’de ortaya attığı görüşlerle bu duruma dikkat çekerek çalışmalarının temeline taşımıştır. Birçok konuda Türk toplumuna yeni bakış açıları sunan sosyolog Batı’nın modern değerleri ile Türk toplumunun kültürü arasında bir sentezi önermiştir. Bununda en iyi modern olan ile mahrem olanın karşılıklı etkileşimi ile olabileceğini öne sürmüştür. Batı toplumlarında var olan mahremiyet ile Türk toplumun var olan mahremiyet aynı noktadan başlamamakla birlikte aynı şeyi de ifade etmemektedir. Bu sebepten kaynaklı olarak da modern ve mahrem arasında kurulan ilişki de iki toplumda farklılık göstermektedir. Göle, bu noktadan hareketle modernite ile birlikte mahremiyetin geçirdiği dönüşeme odaklanarak, mahrem olanın içerisine Türk toplumunun tüm değerlerini almış ve modern olan değerlerle etkileşimini önermiştir. Modern olan ile mahrem olanın doğru ilişkisi ile Türk toplumunun kendi modernliğini oluşturacağını düşünen sosyolog, ikisi arasında birbirini yok saymadıkları birbirlerini etkiledikleri bir etkileşimi benimsemiştir. Göle, modern ve mahrem arasında kurduğu ilişkiyle birlikte modernleşme ve mahremiyet arasında zaman zaman ne yapacağını şaşıran Türk toplumuna farklı bir bakış açısı sunmuştur. Nilüfer Göle’nin sunduğu bu bakış açısı modern ve mahremin baskıcılığından uzak yeni, özgün ve melez bir bakış açısı olma özelliğine sahiptir. Göle, bu bakış açısını sunarken modern ve mahrem değerlerin ikisi de körü körüne bağlanmamış olup, birini benimserken diğerini yok saymamıştır. Aksine modern ve mahrem arasında karşılıklı etkileşimin olduğu bir köprü kurmayı amaçlamıştır. Yapılacak olan bu çalışmada da Nilüfer Göle’nin modern ve mahrem arasında nasıl bir ilişki kurduğuna, ortaya çıkardığı yeni bakış açısını nasıl geliştirdiğine ve Türk toplumuna nasıl bir çözüm önerisi sunduğuna değinilerek, Nilüfer Göle çerçevesinde modern olanın mahrem olanı nasıl dönüştürdüğüne odaklanılacaktır.

Modernity is a progress which emerged in Europe and influenced all over the world. The modernity, which is seen such a solution against social problems, is a style of idea that it shows its effect in Turkish society. However the movement of modernization which has shaped in Turkey, has not progressed with Western modernity in a parallel way. Because Turkish society has remained limited about integrating own values with Western modernity and Turkish society has been led astray because of imitating Western modernity without changing. Nilüfer Göle has made a point of this subject with drawing attention with putting forward an idea to this case. The sociologist who has offered perspectives to Turkish society about so many subjects, has suggested a syntheses between the culture of Turkish society and values of Western modernity. She claims that this syntheses can only happen with an interaction between being modern and being private. The privacy of Western society and the privacy of Turkish society have not begun with same point and also have not expressed same thing. Therefore, the relationship between the modern and the privacy differs in two societies. From this viewpoint, Göle has proposed this interaction which takes all values of Turkish society and values of modern, with focusing on transformation of the modernity and the privacy. The sociologist who has thought that Turkish society would create their own modernizm with the exact relationship pf the modern and the private, has adopted this interaction that is affected by the private and the modern. Göle has offered a different perspective to Turkish society who are at a loss about modernization and the privacy. This perspective of Nilüfer Göle is free from coerciveness of the modern and the private. It has a feature about being new, unique and hybrid. When Göle suggests this perspective, she does not attach blindly to values of the modern and the private and also, she does not ignore this concept. On the contarary, she has purposed to establishe a mutual interaction between the modern and the private. The study is focused how Nilüfer Göle has transformed the modern and the private, with mentioning how Nilüfer Göle has interrelated between the modern and the private, how she has improved this new perspective and, how she has proposed a solution to Turkish society.
