İlçeye yönelik ekonomik ve sosyokültürel etkileri bakımından Çay Meslek Yüksekokulu

Abstract

Yükseköğretim kurumları kuruldukları bölgeyi sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik yönden etkilemektedir. Çalışmada, Meslek Yüksekokullarının (MYO) bulundukları bölgeye yönelik olumlu/olumsuz etkileri açısından Afyonkarahisar İlinin Çay İlçesindeki Çay MYO’ya odaklanılmaktadır. Çay’da yaşayan halk ile bu MYO arasında etkileşim olduğu, Çay halkının bu kurumu desteklediği, bu kurumun da ilçenin ekonomik ve sosyokültürel yapısını olumlu etkilediği düşünülmektedir. Etkilerin boyutunu ortaya koyabilmek adına esnaf dâhil yerel halktan on kişilik bir örneklem grubuyla, yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat tekniği kullanılarak bizzat yazarlar tarafından görüşmeler yapılarak veri toplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular neticesinde Çay MYO’nun yöreye/ilçeye sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik katkıları ortaya konmuştur. MYO’ların bulundukları bölgeye etkileri noktasında Çay MYO’nun değerlendirilmesi çalışmanın özgün yönünü oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada, konunun bazı paydaşlarıyla yapılan görüşmeler doğrultusunda, bu paydaşların ilçenin ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel yönden gelişimine etkisi üzerinde durulmaktadır.

Higher education institutions socially, culturally, and economically affect the region where they have been established. This study focuses on the Çay Vocational School in Çay, Afyonkarahisar, in terms of the local positive or negative effects of the vocational schools on the region. We have hypothesized that there is a link between Çay’s local population and the vocational school as locals contribute to the Çay Vocational School’s institutional development. In return, the school positively affects the economic and sociocultural structure of the city. To reveal the extent of these effects, we conducted semi-structured interviews. The sample of this field study consists of ten local people, including merchants. This research’s findings have pointed out the school’s social, cultural, and economic contributions to the region and city. The originality of this study derives from the evaluation of Çay Vocational School regarding the effects of vocational schools on their respective region where they are located in. The study concludes the contribution of these stakeholders to the development of the district through the interviews.
