Nepheline syenite is a siliciously poor syenitic rock composed of nepheline, sodium and alcaline feldspars. Although it is wide spread on the earth, the nepheline deposits that have economic value are limited. Economic deposits are in Russia, Turkey, China, Canada, Norway and Brazil. Main uses of nepheline syenite are glass and ceramic industries. Dust is an important problem in nepheline syenite mining. In this review, the information about characteristics of nepheline syenite, the product, its scope of use are provided. Moreover, the results of the studies about dust concentrations occuring at nepheline syenite mining and effects of human health of the nepheline syenite dust are evaluated in accordance with available regulation.
