Abstract

Baykan Sezer, kendisine özgü düşünceleriyle, incelenmesi gereken önemli bir Türk sosyoloğu olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Sezer’i önemli kılan iki temel nokta bulunmaktadır; bunlardan ilki kendisi-ne özgü düşüncelerinin olması, ikincisi ise Türk toplumu açısından yerli bir sosyolojiden bahsetmiş olmasıdır. Yerli bir sosyolojiden bahsetmiş olmasından dolayı Türk sosyolojisinin de (yani batı değerlerinden soyutlanmış özgün bir sosyolojiden bahsetmiş olması dolayısıyla) kurucu ismi olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bu düşüncelerinin oluşmasına kaynaklık eden birkaç isim olmakla birlikte bunlar-dan en önemlisi ve onun için bir yol gösterici olan temel kaynak ise Kemal Tahir’dir. Tahir’den etkilenen ve esinlenen Sezer, çalışmalarında Türk sosyolojisi ve batı sosyolojisi kavramlarını kullanmakla birlikte Türk sosyolojisinin imkanının ve diğer tüm sorunların da doğu-batı çatışması ekseninde incelenmesi gerektiğini vurgulamaktadır. Baykan Sezer’in sosyolojisi tamamen Batı’dan soyutlanmış bir sosyoloji anlayışında değildir. Sezer sosyolojisi, Batı ile hesaplaşmaya ve kendi sözümüzü söyle-meyi amaçlayan bir sosyoloji anlayışındadır. Literatür taraması yapılarak ele alınan bu çalışma Sezer’in Doğu-Batı çatışması tezini tartışmayı amaçlamaktadır.

Baykan Sezer, with his unique thoughts, emerges as an important Turkish sociologist that should be examined. There are two main points that make Sezer important; The first of these is that he has his own unique tho-ughts, and the second is that he talks about a local sociology in terms of Turkish society. Sezer is considered the founding name of Turkish sociology because he talked about a local sociology (that is, because he talked about a unique sociology isolated from western values). Although there are several names that inspired the formation of these thoughts, the most important and guiding source for him is Kemal Tahir. Sezer, who is influenced and inspired by Tahir, uses the concepts of Turkish sociology and western sociology in his works, but emphasizes that the possibility of Turkish sociology and all other problems should be examined on the axis of the east-west conflict. Baykan Sezer's sociology is not completely isolated from the West. Sezer's sociology is a sociology that aims to come to terms with the West and to have our own say. This study, which is based on a literature review, aims to discuss Sezer's thesis of East-West conflict.
