Kariyer tercihinde kişisel değişkenlerin rolü: Turizm ve öğretmenlik eğitimi alan öğrenciler üzerinde bir araştırma

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, turizm alanında öğretmenlik eğitimi alan öğrencilerin kariyer tercihlerinde kişisel değişkenlerin rolünü ortaya koymaktır. Konuyla ilgili olarak araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan anket Gazi Üniversitesi Ticaret ve Turizm Eğitim Fakültesi’nin turizm ile ilgili programlarında işletmecilik ve öğretmenlik eğitimi alan toplam 602 öğrenci üzerinde uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda yapılan analizler sonucu, turizm sektörü ve öğretmenlikle ilgili olarak terfi, kişisel gelişim, ücret ve ek gelir, çalışma koşulları, iş güvencesi ve sosyal olanaklar, sosyal statü, kariyer isteği ve olanakları alanlarındaki koşullara ilişkin öğrenci görüşlerinin algılamalarının, genelde öğretmenlikte daha olumlu olduğu ve bu doğrultuda, öğrencilerin kariyer tercihlerini genelde öğretmenlikten yana kullanma eğilimi içerisinde oldukları belirlenmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bir diğer önemli bulgu da, öğrencilerin, sınıfları ilerledikçe turizmde kariyer yapmaya eskiye nazaran daha sıcak baktıklarıdır.

The main objective of the study is to find out the impacts of demographic variables of students at tourism management teaching in their career preferences. The study conducted by means of the questionnaire prepared through the review of literature in the field by the researchers was applied on 602 students who studies both management and teaching in the departments related with tourism at Gazi University Faculty of Tourism and Commerce Education. The results of the analyses suggest that the perception over the fields (promotion, personal development, wage and additional income, work conditions, work security, benefits, social status, career willingness and opportunities) were found to be positive on teaching and in this regard, the students involved were observed to have made their preferences over the profession of teaching. On the other hand, an other significant finding of the study was that students regard career in tourism sector more positive as they progress in their university class.
