Alternatif turizm mi turizmde çeşitlilik mi? Kavramsal bir değerlendirme

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı alternatif turizm kavramında yaşanan karmaşıklığın giderilmesine yönelik ilgili alana katkı sağlamaktır. Çalışmada öncelikle alternatif kavramının etimolojik kökleri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmış, daha sonra turizm literatüründe alternatif turizmin kavramsal analizi konuyla ilgili çalışmalardaki ilgili kavramın hangi anlamlarda ve nasıl kullanıldığı derinlemesine irdelenmiştir. Yapılan literatür incelemesi sonucunda alternatif turizm veya alternatif turizm çeşitleri yerine turizm çeşitleri ifadesinin daha uygun bir seçenek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca alternatif turizmin kavramsallaştırılmasında temel dayanak noktası olarak kullanılan kitle turizminin alternatifi bakış açısının bazı boyutlarıyla eksik kaldığı tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda ulaşılan bir diğer önemli sonuç sürdürülebilirlik ve sürdürülebilir kalkınma felsefesinin benimsenmesi alternatif turizm gelişiminin temel odak noktasını oluşturmaktadır.

The aim of this study is to contribute to the tourism literature to overcome the complexity in the concept of alternative tourism. The study primarily has tried to put etymological roots of the term of alternative forward, then the conceptual analysis of alternative tourism in the related literature has been presented and an in-depth analysis has been made to reveal in what sense and how the alternative tourism term is used in the literature. In the end of the literature review, it has been concluded that alternative tourism forms is more favorable option than alternative tourism. In addition, it has been found that the mass tourism, which is used a base to conceptualize alternative tourism term, is incomplete from some dimensions of alternative point of view. Another important result of the study is that sustainability and adoption of the philosophy of sustainable development form the main focus of point of the development of alternative tourism forms.
