Turist rehberliği öğrencilerinin yaz stajına yönelik değerlendirmeleri: Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi örneği

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, lisans düzeyinde turizm rehberliği eğitimi alan öğrencilerin, gerçekleştirdikleri zorunlu yaz stajına ilişkin görüşlerinin değerlendirilmesidir. Söz konusu bu amaç doğrultusunda araştırma verilerinin elde edilmesi sürecinde anket yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini, Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi Turizm Fakültesi Turizm Rehberliği bölümünde öğrenim gören ve 2017-2018 yılı yaz döneminde zorunlu stajını gerçekleştirmiş/tamamlamış öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmacıların söz konusu bölümde staj koordinatörü olmalarından dolayı araştırmada örneklem alınmayarak tam sayım yöntemi kullanılmıştır. İlgili fakültede 26 Kasım 2018 tarihinde gerçekleştirilmiş olan staj mülakatları kapsamında tüm öğrencilerle yüz yüze görüşülerek veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında öğrencilerin staja ilişkin görüşleri staj süreci, stajın mesleki katkısı, turizm rehberliği eğitiminin staja katkısı olarak üç boyutta incelenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, öğrencilerin gerçekleştirmiş olduğu stajlara ilişkin görüşlerinde en olumsuz durum olarak ücret düşüklüğü göze çarpmaktadır. Stajın öğrencilerin mesleki gelişimlerine yönelik katkılarında en olumlu durum olarak kişisel gelişim noktasında faydası olduğu ve stajın öğrencilerin iletişim becerilerini ve özgüven düzeylerini arttırdığı, ayrıca sektöre dair daha ayrıntılı fikir sahibi oldukları ortaya çıkmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra, üniversitede verilen turist rehberliği eğitiminin, öğrencilere staj sürecinde en önemli katkısının sorumluluk ve disiplinli çalışma bilincinin gelişmesi olduğu saptanmıştır.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the opinions of the students who have received tourism guidance education at the undergraduate level on the compulsory summer internship. For this purpose, survey method was used in the process of obtaining the research data. The population of the study consisted of the Afyon Kocatepe University, Tourist Guidance Department students who completed their compulsory internship in 2017-2018 summer education period. As the researchers were the internship coordinators in this department, data were collected by using the whole counting method by face-to-face interviews with all students in the internship interviews conducted on 26 November 2018 in the related faculty. Within the scope of the research, the internship process of the students' opinions about the internship, the professional contribution of the internship, the contribution of tourism guidance training to the internship were examined in three dimensions. According to the results, it is observed that there is a low level of wages in the opinions of students about their internships. It has been found out that the internship has a positive effect on the personal development of students 'contributions to their professional development, and that internship increases students' communication skills and self-confidence levels, and they have a more detailed understanding of the sector. In addition, it is among the results of the study that tourist guidance education given in the university is the most important contribution of the students to the internship process and their responsibility and development of disciplined work consciousness.
