Bilsem sanat alanı öğretmenlerinin Steam eğitimine yönelik görüşlerinin belirlenmesi

Abstract

STEAM, birden fazla disiplinin aynı anda kullanılmasının öğrenmede daha kalıcı etkiler yarattığı düşüncesiyle 21. yy eğitim anlayışı çerçevesinde şekillenen son günlerin popüler eğitim yaklaşımlarından biridir. Özellikle bu yaklaşım farklı alanlarda birçok çalışmanın konusu olmuş ve eğitimde yarattığı olumlu etkileri ile ön plana çıkmıştır. Mevcut çalışmada özel yetenekli bireylerin eğitimi alanında çalışan resim ve müzik öğretmenlerinin STEAM eğitimine yönelik hazırbulunuşlukları ve uygulama esnasında yaşadıkları zorluklar gibi konular hakkındaki görüşleri tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda Bursa ili sınırları içerisinde yer alan Bilim ve Sanat Merkezlerinde görev yapan sanat alanı öğretmenleri araştırmanın çalışma grubunu oluşturmuştur. Araştırma yöntemi olarak durum çalışması modeli benimsenmiştir. Öğretmenlerden yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak tema, kategori ve kodlar oluşturularak çözümlenmiş ve değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda öğretmenlerin STEAM eğitimine yönelik genel bilgilerinin olmasına rağmen ilgili yaklaşımı derslerinde etkin bir biçimde kullanabilecek eğitime sahip olmadıkları tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca öğretmenler sanat eğitiminde STEAM yaklaşımının mutlaka kullanılması gerektiğini ifade ederek konu ile ilgili ihtiyaçları belirtmişler ve önerilerde bulunmuşlardır. Araştırmanın sonunda STEAM eğitiminin sanat eğitmenleri tarafından benimsenmesi ve etkililiğinin artırılmasına yönelik hizmet içi kursların artırılması, işbaşı gözlem, uzman daveti gibi eğitimlerin gerçekleştirilmesi, merkez ihtiyaçlarının karşılanarak altyapı eksikliklerinin giderilmesi ve sanat laboratuvarlarının kurulması gibi çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

STEAM has been the subject of many studies in different fields and has come to the fore with the positive effects it has created in education. In the current study, it was tried to determine the views of art and music teachers working in the field of education of gifted individuals on issues such as their readiness for STEAM education and the difficulties they experience during the application. In this context, art teachers working in BİLSEM located within the borders of Bursa province constituted the study group of the research. The case study model was adopted as the method of the research. The data obtained from the teachers using the semi-structured interview form were analyzed and evaluated by creating themes, categories and codes using the content analysis method. In line with the findings obtained in the research, it was determined that although the teachers had general knowledge about STEAM education, they did not have the education to use the relevant approach effectively in their lessons. In addition, teachers emphasized the necessity of using the STEAM approach in art education and stated their needs regarding the subject. As a result of the study, a variety of suggestions have been put forward such as promoting inservice courses for art educators to embrace STEAM education and to enhance its effectiveness; implementing trainings like on-the-job observations and expert invitations; meeting the needs of the center and fixing the infrastructure deficiencies; and setting up art laboratories.
