Reşad Ekrem Koçu’nun Tarihî Romanları

Abstract

Bu çalışmada iyi bir tarihçi olan Reşad Ekrem Koçu’nun aynı zamanda iyi bir edebiyatçı olduğu gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu maksatla yazarın, tarihî romanları ve hikâyeleri çeşitli cepheleriyle incelenmiş, tarihî anlatı tarzındaki eserleri tanıtılmıştır. Reşad Ekrem Koçu, tarih konularını edebî eserler vasıtasıyla Türk okuyucusuna sevdirmeye çalışır. Tarihi zevkli ve kolay okunur kılmak maksadıyla romanı bir araç olarak kullanan yazar, romanın sanatsal yönünü ikinci plâna atmış olsa da, eserlerini birçok yönüyle başarılı kabul edebiliriz. Romanlarının çekici yönü, ele aldığı dönemin sosyal hayat tarzı bakımından da anlatılmaya çalışılmasıdır. Reşad Ekrem Koçu, roman yazarken genellikle ilginç konuları tercih eder. Onun için günlük hayatın ayrıntılarına girmek önem taşır. Onun en güçlü yanı da Osmanlı tarihiyle ilgili kaynakları büyük bir dikkatle araştırıp, bunların içinden çeşitli türde ilginç olayları, tuhaf hikâyeleri, günlük hayata dair inanılması güç alışkanlıkları ve ayrıntıları bulup çıkarmasıdır. Bu noktada tarihçiliği kadar yazarlığı da önem kazanır. Tarihin tozlu sayfaları arasına gizlenmiş olağanüstü ayrıntıları yakalayan dikkat ve titizliğiyle birçok başarılı eser vücuda getirmiştir. İncelediğimiz eserlerden hareketle, Reşad Ekrem Koçu’nun akıcı anlatımıyla, tarihin çeşitli devirlerinin günlük hayatına ait ilginç ayrıntıları sunuş tarzıyla, iyi bir tarihçi olduğu kadar iyi bir “edip” olduğunu da söylemek mümkündür.

In this study, it is desired to show Reşat Ekrem Koçu, who is a good historian, as a good litteratuer at the same time. For this purpose, the writer’s historical novels and stories are studied from different sides and his masterpieces having historical narration are introduced. Reşat Ekrem Koçu tries to cause the Turkish readers to like history through literary works. Although the writer using novels in order to make history amusing and easy to read has the artistic aspects of novel been of secondary importance, we can assume his works as successful. Trying to describe the social life of the period taking place in the novels is the appealing side of his novels. Reşat Ekrem Koçu often prefers interesting topics in his novels. To him, revealing the details of the life is very important. His most influentiel feature is to search the sources about Ottoman History with a great attention, to find different kinds of interesting events, unusual stories, unbeliveable habits and details in life from those resources. At that point, as much as his historiography, his skill in writing gains importance. He created many successful masterpieces with his attention and meticulousness in detecting extraordinary details buried in history books. According to the works we have examined, it is possible to say that as well as being a good historian, Reşat Ekrem Koçu is a good author with his fluent exposition and presentation of the details in the social life of the different periods of history.
