| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to investigate the relationship between school climate, job stress, and well-being among mathematics teachers in Türkiye using data from the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2018 and to identify latent teacher profiles based on these variables through latent profile analysis (LPA). In addition, the study examined whether the identified latent profiles differed according to gender, school level, age group, and whether teaching was the participants' first career choice. The study was conducted using a quantitative research approach, with a descriptive and correlational survey design. The data were obtained from 1,347 mathematics teachers working at lower secondary and upper secondary schools in Türkiye who participated in TALIS 2018. The analyses were based on the scale scores of the Workplace Well-Being and Stress, Workload Stress, Student Behavior Stress, Disciplinary Climate, and Teacher–Student Relations subscales included in the TALIS 2018 teacher questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, Spearman's rank-order correlation coefficient, latent profile analysis, and the DCAT method within the three-step approach were employed to analyze the data. The findings indicated significant positive relationships among workload stress, workplace well-being, and student behavior stress. Teacher–student relations were found to be negatively associated with all stress dimensions, whereas perceived disciplinary climate was positively associated with the stress dimensions. The latent profile analysis identified four distinct latent profiles of mathematics teachers: High Job Stress–Negative School Climate, Moderate Job Stress–School Climate, Low Job Stress–Positive School Climate, and Low Job Stress–Moderate School Climate. The majority of the teachers were classified into the Moderate Job Stress–School Climate profile. Furthermore, the latent profiles did not differ significantly according to gender or school level; however, significant differences were found according to age group and whether teaching was the participants' first career choice. The findings demonstrate significant relationships among mathematics teachers' job stress, workplace well-being, and perceptions of school climate, and that mathematics teachers can be classified into four distinct latent profiles based on these variables. | |
